Agenda for Annual Town Meeting
April 21, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
The Annual Meeting for the Town of Milton, Buffalo County, Wisconsin, will be held on April 21, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Milton Town Hall at W984 Lower Eagle Valley Road, Fountain City, WI 54629. The Agenda for the meeting is as follows:
1. Call to Order – Opening Comments and Introductions
2. Discussion of Meeting Format
a. Town chair is chair of meeting; town clerk is clerk of meeting
b. Votes must be by a show of hands and recorded; all residents can vote
c. Anything can be discussed at a town meeting, but some votes may only be advisory to the town board.
d. By statute, the town has some direct powers (only the town meeting can exercise these powers--such as the power to levy taxes); some directives (where the town meeting can direct the board to do something) and some authorizations (where the town meeting can authorize the town board to do something but the town board is not required to follow that authorization)
3. Elector’s Input Regarding Items to Be Added to the Agenda;
4. Review and Approval of the April 15, 2009 Annual Town Meeting Minutes;
5. Presentation of 2009 Financial Report;
6. 2009 Year in Review
a. Garbage Update (Bob Platteter);
b. Road Report and TRIP Grant (Bob Platteter);
c. Racetrack Update (Bob Timm);
d. Election Update (Kalene Engel);
e. Prairie Moon Museum update (Bob Platteter);
f. Review of Town Ordinances (Bob Platteter/Kalene Engel);
g. Town Hall Maintenance (Bob Platteter);
7. Discussion of license fees
8. Discussion of election worker compensation
9. Next Annual Meeting Date
10. Adjournment
